With fashion week coming up, I’ve been thinking about what makes some people look stylish or what I refer to as “Vogue” and others not so “Vogue”. With fashion week coming up, I’ve been thinking about what makes some people look stylish or what I refer to as “Vogue” and others not so “Vogue”. You know what I mean. Those women and men on the streets that everyone thinks look extremely stylish and well-put together.
I love the Vogue-ish style but I always felt like I couldn’t quite figure out what it was that made them look so put together. So sleek and fashionable. And even if I knew “the secret” I believed that I wouldn’t be able to fit the ‘Vogue’ style with my curvy self. So I started to wonder: what does it take to look stylish and Vogue? So lately I’ve been studying up on these stylish individuals and trying to mimic the styles I love. Needless to say, dupes and high street pieces were necessary, since Gucci and Balmain are a tad over my budget… At least until I hit those big bucks that is.
From what I deduced so far Vogue style is a mix of casual, business and classy. It is all about combining seemingly contradicting styles into an outfit that represents your character and personality. So to start my Vogue journey off on the right foot I decided to combine this red print Vogue Netherlands shirt with a bright red half-long blazer. To add that contrast that’s so typical high-fashion, I combined this rather classy look with a casual boyfriend jeans bottom, A pair of Adidas Stan Smiths and my official Google merch. tote. Classy vs. casual; bright vs. soft-toned.
Furthermore, you have to look beyond the outfit. Take the details into consideration. Is your hair done? Do your nails look ok? What accessories are you going to wear? And what shoes? All of these points contribute to the overall Vogue look. So don’t overlook the details in pursuit of the perfect sleek outfit.
