The perfume for 2017 – Marc Jacobs Decadence

The scent of you still lingers in my mind…

People say time travel isn’t possible, and while that may be so physically, mentally it’s an easy feat. Ever smelled a scent on the streets that immediately took you back to a time and place in the past? Well, I certainly have. While on Exchange in Korea I bought my first ever branded perfume, Lady Million by Paco Rabanne. I so fell in love with the name, the bottle and eventually the scent. I literally would wear it every day and everywhere. In essence, Lady Million became synonymous to one of the best periods of my life so far. Now, every time I wear that perfume, or smell it on the streets I’m transported back to fall/winter of 2013, to the crowded streets of Myeongdeong and Hongdae and the best stews I ever tasted.

With the start of 2017 I decided to invest in another scent. Really for me, buying new scents has become a way to record an era into my memories. So the era of 2017, the era of the beginning of my “adult” life, this era in which I want to lay the foundation for a decadent future, I decided to memorise with Decadence by Marc Jacobs.

Marc Jacobs Decadence Unboxing

I’ve literally been eyeing this scent by Marc Jacobs for MONTHS. I saw it in a magazine and I fell in love with the bottle design and the name. Marc Jacobs Decadence… it just has such a classy ring to it don’t you think?

I have to say that I took about 15 minutes to decide between Decadence and the new Divine Decadence. Personally, I find Decadence to be a heavier scent than Divine Decadence has a softer, lighter scent that I didn’t think complemented me. For those interested in a more detailed comparison between the two,  I can recommend you reading the blog post by a blogger named Michelle on her blog called Thou Shalt Not Covet.

After trying both I finally decided on the original Decadence over the new Divine Decadence. Because it’s Christmas-time I was able to get a gift set including a decadence body wash for the same price as the original 50 ml bottle namely, €65,-. For those living in the Netherlands, I bought it at my go-to store Ici Paris XL. For those living outside of the Netherlands, I’m sure that your local perfumery carries Marc Jacobs; if not you can always get it at Sephora or on the Marc Jacobs website.
